The Hannover Section of the Research Institute Social Cohesion (RISC) is pleased to announce the conference “Exploring Local Social Cohesion in Green and Just Transitions."
The conference will bring together scholars from geography, political science, sociology, urban and spatial planning, landscape ecology and related fields to address pressing questions at the intersection of environmental transformation and social cohesion.
Advancing the understanding of green and just transitions in response to climate change and biodiversity loss, the conference focuses on how such transitions—across infrastructures, energy, housing, economy and mobility—reconfigure trust, participation, equality, and solidarity at local and regional scales.
The conference programme includes sessions with both theoretical contributions and empirical research, which examine how adaptation and mitigation policies can either promote or undermine local social ties, community identities and social justice.
