HAM_T_01 Transfer Office: Media and Social Cohesion

Objective / Research Questions

The transfer office at the Hamburg section is responsible for the overall coordination as well as the transfer activities of the different projects in Hamburg. It designs, organizes, and evaluates various transfer activities aimed primarily at the interested public. In addition, it supports the different projects in their particular transfer-related activities in Hamburg. Although the projects’ target groups vary, the focus is on journalists and people from the media. The project also acts as an interface between those involved in the Hamburg section and other individuals or groups when it comes to activities in the area of “consulting” (for example, on media policy issues or methodological aspects of media research).

Thematic Reference to Social Cohesion

The Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans Bredow Institute (HBI) contributes to RISC the connection between media and social cohesion. The planned transfer activities build on this perspective and address fundamental questions about the challenges that media change poses for social self-understanding, conflict resolution, and the balance between diversity and cohesion.
