Our academic career development program supports doctoral students and postdocs in developing their individual career profiles. It prepares participants for professional activities both within and outside the university.
The Research Institute for Social Cohesion integrates doctoral students and postdocs as key contributors to its scientific program. The institute bears responsibility for the scientific qualification and professional development of its employees. An individual career development program supports researchers at all career stages during their doctoral and postdoctoral phases. The Leipzig section coordinates the career development program. It strengthens scientific independence, expands interdisciplinary skills, and supports the career planning and development of research assistants. The program prepares participants for both academic and non-academic careers, for example in the media, transfer organizations, political consulting, opinion research institutes, and think tanks. Various teaching, learning, mentoring, and counseling formats impart skills in project management, knowledge transfer, and science communication. These skills are particularly important given the research institute's focus on topics of societal relevance.
